Dr. Gurdeep Parhar
Dr. Parhar has been in family practice for over 30 years and his clinical practice has focused on the health of patients with severe disabilities and ADHD. His teaching in undergraduate and post graduate programs includes professionalism, equity, cultural safety, psychosocial aspects of healthcare, and medical disability.
Academic Excellence and Leadership
Dr. Gurdeep Parhar, a Clinical Professor at the University of BC (UBC) Faculty of Medicine, where he previously served as Associate Dean and Executive Associate Dean. He has also formerly held the positions of Associate Head and Acting Co-Head of the UBC Department of Family Practice.
Dr. Parhar is the Co-Founder of the Adult ADHD Centre, which he co-founded with Dr. Anita Parhar nearly a decade ago in British Columbia, the first Adult ADHD Centre in Canada that pioneered an innovative approach to Adult ADHD assessment accessibility. Dr. Parhar’s commitment to contributing valuable insights to the medical community in pursuit of advancements in patient care and treatment strategies is evident in his published research on the Real-World Efficacy and Safety of Two ADHD Treatments, published in 2023.
International Presenter
As a thought leader, Dr. Parhar has used the speaker platform to share his Adult ADHD expertise and experience at renowned ADHD conferences such as the International ADHD Conference 2023 and the Centre for ADHD Awareness Canada 2023 sharing valuable information and education to reduce the stigma surrounding ADHD and neurodiversity.
Dr. Parhar’s commitment to education is further exemplified by his numerous ADHD talks presented to groups such as family physicians, allied healthcare professionals, ADHD coaches, counsellors, employer groups, and the public. His presentations cover diverse topics on ADHD such as ADHD in the workplace, relationships, coexisting conditions, sleep, post-secondary challenges, and the unique impact on women.
Dr. Parhar presented at the TedTalk, TEDxStanleyPark series on “Fixing Racism” (2016), underscoring his dedication to addressing broader societal issues.
